WHAT'S A SPECIALIST
Dental
Specialist are dentist trained in post graduate studies in
a specific area of dentistry at an Accredited Dental College.
Specialist must be certified by there Specialty Board and
the State Board in order to call themselves a specialist in
an area, they are limited in there service to that specific
area.

Orthodontist
A dental specialist whose practice is limited to the diagnosis,
prevention, interception, and correction of malocclusion,
(mal-aligned teeth) as well as neuromuscular and skeletal
abnormalities.
Pediatric Dentist
A dental specialist whose practice is limited to treatment
of children from birth through adolescence; formerly known
as a pedodontist.
Periodontist
A dental specialist whose practice is limited to the treatment
of diseases of the supporting and surrounding tissues of
the teeth.
Oral
And Maxillofacial Surgeon
A dental specialist whose practice is limited to the diagnosis,
surgical and adjunctive treatment of diseases, injuries,
deformities, defects and esthetic aspects of the oral and
maxillofacial regions.
Endodontist
A dental specialist who limits his/her practice to treating
disease and injuries of the pulp and associated periradicular
conditions.
Prosthodontist
A dental specialist whose practice is limited to the restoration
of the natural teeth and/or the replacement of missing teeth
with artificial substitutes.
General Dentist
may perform almost any procedure for which he has trained
and feels comfortable with including those performed by
specialist. However, most refer specialty procedure to the
specialist.
